Theatre's and Cinema's

The superb Odeon Dunfermline cinema is situated about 3 miles outside of town in the Fife Leisure Park in Halbeath. The cinema is easily accessible from the M90 at Junction 3. There is an induction loop at each retail and box office till, and lowered counter tops at the box office. There are 3 ATM's for collection of pre-booked tickets. Each screen is wheelchair accessible and has an induction loop for the hard of hearing. Dolby Digital surround sound is installed in all screens except for screens 5 and 10, and screen 6 has DTS.
Dunfermline is fortunate to have been bequeathed with two theatres, the Carnegie Hall Theatre and the Alhambra, the latter of which is currently undergoing restoration.
Carnegie Hall is a 540-seat theatre complete with a music institute and a restaurant. The theatre was gifted to Dunfermline by philanthorpist, Andrew Carnegie.
The Alhambra Theatre was founded as far back as 1922, operating for many years in the town, until the site was sold to a bingo club in 1965. The theatre was threatened with demolition or being converted into flats when the bingo club relocated to the Fife Leisure Park, but the theatre was salvaged in the end. The theatre is one of the most impressive in Fife holding at least 1000 seats, with much of the original building work intact and will be a benefit in the city centre with the on-going regeneration project. The theatre is due to re-open, if the work is completed, by late 2009. The Alhambra campaign, ALhambra Alive, had a launch in the theatre in late winter 2007.
